Ze’sopol
Caminha
Ze’sopol’s photography career started in 1998 in
Jakarta, when he smuggled a Reuters Camera into a prison. His
first photos, published by Reuters, were of Kay Rala Xanana
Gusmão inside Cipinang prison on June 20, 1998. Since
then he has photographed in many countries and his photos have
been published in national & international media.
In 2004 he studied Black & White Photography at the Educational
Alliance Art School in New York City. As a volunteer with FilmAid
International Tanzania (East Africa) in 2004, he conducted training
courses in journalism and Photography to Young refugees around
the border between Tanzania & Burundi. He has won several
recognitions and in 2005 was 1st Prize Winner of the International
Amateur Photography Contest, run by International Library of
Photography, USA. Ze'sopol finished his Graduate Certificate
in Journalism at the University of Queensland, Australia 2002.
He is currently working as an Editor in Chief of TALITAKUM magazine
and is a founding member of Timor-Leste Photographers’
Association (TiLPA) and its Coordinator General.
